Dear Members,<\/span><\/p>

Welcome to the May Newsletter! A few highlights from the last month.<\/span><\/p>

First, we had our Annual Executive Away Day in Edinburgh on the 13th. A busy day with a tight agenda but a very rewarding one in terms of the output. It allowed us to plan activities for the year based on the results of the Membership survey and also inspect the venue for the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) next year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The ASM has traditionally been hosted in the hometown of the President but because the attendance at the meeting has increased significantly, it has become increasing difficult to find suitable venues. It was therefore decided to hold the meeting in rotation (England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales) at venues which would accommodate our increasing numbers. We have had excellent meetings in Newport and Bournemouth and therefore next in rotation for 2023 is Edinburgh! Edinburgh is a fantastic city with an excellent conference centre right in the heart of the city and promises to be the perfect venue for our meeting\u00a0HERE<\/span><\/a>\u00a0Furthermore, after much deliberation (clashes with half term and AAOS and availability of the venue), it was decided that the dates for the next BHS Annual Scientific Meeting will be from the 8 to 10th March 2023. Please do put them in your diary!<\/span><\/p>

Second, the last date for application to the BHS-AHS Travelling fellowship is 17th of June 2022. This is a unique opportunity wherein two Fellows from the BHS will travel together with two Fellows from the North American Hip Society to centres of excellence in the UK over a three-week period in September 2023 culminating at the annual BOA Congress in Birmingham. The AHS has awarded the Fellowships to Anna Cohen-Rosenblum, MD, MSc and Cody C. Wyles, MD, MS. Many congratulations to both and we are looking forward to hosting the Fellows in September –\u00a0MORE INFO HERE<\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Third, the BHS had made a conscious decision to focus on research especially on issues of national importance and the research committee was set up with this purpose in mind. I am pleased to report the first peer reviewed publication from this group on Revision Hip Complexity Classification appeared in the BJJ Open recently. Many congratulations to Tim Board and his team for delivering on this important project.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Finally, featuring in \u2018Meet the Executive\u2019 this month is our Honorary Secretary, Ms. Kathryn Gill.<\/span><\/p>
